Hello, I’m

I’m Ryan Salas, and my creativity spans across digital products, photography, objects, and architecture. I aim to bring systems to life through feeling and form. Recently, I have focused on building realistic interactive prototypes in Figma. This site and the View-Master are examples. Use them to explore snapshots of how I think.

Currently Lead Designer for Trailhead. Not open to new roles.

Surveillance and video review timeline for Trailhead

I balance creative vision with real-world projects

As a designer and partner at Trailhead Technology, I shape the user experience of 7+ active products across healthcare, education, and public infrastructure. I help direct over $650,000 in design-led client investment each year, guiding the creation of 18+ high-impact features that define how people interact with complex tools.

Unlike designers at large tech firms who specialize deeply within a single system, I operate across a wide spectrum — translating vision into shipped software while balancing speed, usability, and business goals. I thrive in ambiguity, design fast without sacrificing clarity, and work closely with clients to align design choices with measurable outcomes.

Usually,

things fall into place

I design by building systems, then testing their limits. I pay attention to form, but I’m just as focused on how it feels when everything clicks. A good solution holds its shape. It guides the eye, invites interaction, and leaves nothing in the way. Most pieces find their place through repeated adjustments. My process is less about perfection and more about resolution.

Sometimes the next step only appears when everything fits.
